A taste of our history and cultureā€¦

Inhambane has so much to offer when it comes to our history and culture. If you are a history lover, you will enjoy this city!

Some interesting sites you may wish to visit are:

Cathedral of Our Lady of Conception
Built by the Portuguese around 170 - 200 years ago, the Cathedral is rich with history and character. Climb the ladder and enjoy a breath-taking 360 degree view of Inhambane port.

The Inhambane Museum
This is the place if you want to truly travel back in time! Here you can see interesting artifacts found in Mozambique, agricultural tools and instruments, photos and so much more.

The Railway Station
The railway station still houses the beautiful, albeit inactive steam trains.

The Old Mosque
Situated a mere walk around the corner from the Railway Station you will find the old mosque which was built in 1840.

The Governors Palace/House
Situated at the waterfront, you will find the old Governors Palace – a beautiful, old mysterious building with lots of stories to tell.

Inhambane's Harbour & Dhows
Beautiful dhows dot the harbour, fishermen hard at work - even a shipwreck! You don’t see a sight like this just anywhere. Across the bay you will see the hustling and bustling city of Maxixe, which can be reached by a very short 3km dhow ride (as opposed to the 60km road trip!)

Inhambane is waiting to be discovered – if you choose to leave your lounger that is!
